Are you looking for a unique entertainment venue that includes great food, brewed beers, cocktails, pickleball courts, and a large outdoor game area? If so, I invite you to check out Ashland Brewing Company at 810 South 9th Street in Ashland, Nebraska. Opened in June of 2025, owners Tim and Ashley Uryasz had a vision to bring a brew house to life that would be suitable for all types of customers including families.
Tim grew up in Kansas City, but spent every summer at his grandparent’s cabin at Willow Point Lake near Ashland, NE. His family has a history of being in the restaurant business and Tim had the same calling when he fell in love with the Ashland Community and the people that live there. After graduating from UNL and spending time in the minor league baseball industry, he and his wife, Ashley, who is a physician at Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas City, (one of the leading pediatric research centers) still felt a desire to open up their own place. After a tragic early morning fire claimed their first attempt at being restaurant owners in downtown Ashland, they waited patiently and strategically planned for the opening of the Ashland Brewing Company.
Fifteen years later this dream came to fruition. The large facility features two full bars with a twelve tap system, with beers brewed by head brewmaster Kyle McClellen, who started brewing beer at home and then spent three and a half years at White Elm Brewing in Lincoln. There he specialized in Belgium Ales, Stouts, and helped develop their new Lager program. After joining ABC he continued to morph into the professional he is today. Their private barrel room is constantly making new brews as they learned quickly in the beginning that running out of beer is not optimal. Now they serve four to five beers year around, and rotate in seven more as the season dictates.
When it comes to the food, you will not be disappointed. Driven by chef and kitchen manager, JC Schlisner, this gastropub menu not only serves what I would call "upscale" bar food, but brings to life authentic dishes like Pork Belly Bao Buns, Smoked Chislic Bites, and their famous Smash Burgers. Tim's goal is to be known for the best Smash Burgers in the state. Featured on Wednesdays is the popular Linoma Lobster Roll. Their menu also includes a variety of other sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, and even a kid's menu. The menu is constantly changing and they have recently added Blue Cheese Smash Burgers, Shrimp Po'Boys, and Crispy Sprouts. Come check out their dishes and compliment it with one of their famous brews. You will not be disappointed.
Ashland Brewing Company has 4 pickleball courts, 2 inside and 2 outside. Also, a large game area that you can play bag toss, Connect 4 (one of the largest in the state), and one of the largest Jenga games. There is an upstairs deck which includes a private conference room and an outdoor area where they bring in live entertainment. A special St. Patrick's Day event is planned for March 13th through the 15th. The line up includes Connor Dowling, Wicked Band, and Velvet Crush. Irish food and drink will be featured all three days so plan on a festive time.
Remember the first Jurassic Park Movie? Tim does, and it is his favorite movie of all time. He is planning one of his upcoming family friendly events featuring that movie and will bring in life-size creatures from the famous movie. It will be a fun event for all ages. Tim is constantly adding new entertainment to the venue such as Music Bingo, Trivia Night, special celebrations for the Masters Golf Tournament, Kentucky Derby, Mother's Day, and Father's Day - with a plethora more in the works.
Tim and Ashley would like Ashland Brewing Company to also be known for Ashland Brewing Charities. They are driven by their philanthropic spirit and want to build a charitable arm with a foundation for charities. Tim is a childhood cancer survivor, and on many occasions he donates 10% of all the daily sales to the Children's Nebraska Foundation Oncology Department to support families in need of life saving care. He is fully engaged in supporting Childhood Cancer Awareness and will post on his website any upcoming events where folks can help with this great cause. He is looking forward to how he can best serve and support this arm. Tim and Ashley both have a passion in their hearts for helping others.
Ashland Brewing Company is open Wednesday through Sunday. Check out their hours of operation on their website at www.Ashlandbrewco.com. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram. The most important things that stood out to me when I interviewed Tim was first, he was just a good guy, but I also loved how he spoke about how the brand is important and believing in core values. "When talking to my staff I will always tell them, if you make a mistake it's okay. Just treat people well and do the right thing and we will be successful. So far ... so good."
So please come for a visit, stay for awhile, and in true Irish fashion "Let the Shenanigans begin".
