Squire Ward's Public House is BACK in Seward, Nebraska

With great pleasure I am announcing that Squire Ward's Public House is back open in a new location at 608 Seward Street in Seward, Nebraska! Now part of the historic Courtyard Square, and right next door to Gregg and Ramona Nelson's family restaurant The Pasta Barn, this location is tailor made for this new establishment. The size of this larger space allows for many new options. The kitchen is three times the size of the old one and not only allows them to serve the new bar, but also the Pasta Barn and their ever-expanding catering business. The size of the bar and restaurant is also three times the size and can easily hold all of their local customers and friends, which was totally evident at the soft opening I was invited to. My heart swelled with emotion and a sense of pride as I saw Gregg navigate the new bar, helping to train new bartenders, and constantly hugging and greeting the numerous amounts of followers that came through the new door. I have had the honor of getting to know Gregg over the past year and he is an incredible business owner - always putting the customer first, and providing the best service he can.

As you may recall from the my previous story I did on this establishment, the original sports bar and restaurant was opened in 2021 and was a thriving business for the city of Seward. It was named after Josiah Ward, best known as Squire Ward, who helped to incorporate this town. He is also credited with starting the first 4th of July celebration in Seward, which today is one of the largest events in the state. Gregg and Ramona felt it was only fitting to name the bar in his honor and the name is still honoring his contributions to this city in this new location. When they lost their lease last year they were devastated and forced to close this "five star dive bar" (as it was referred to), and they thought seriously about jumping into their RV and hitting the road. But Gregg felt like it "just wasn't the right time", and he said he "missed the social interaction of the bar". When I talked to him after it closed, I mentioned in my second story on this place that my money was on him. He is one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met, and I had no doubt he would land on his feet. We waited in anticipation for his next chapter and we are so happy to be a part of his story!

Squire Ward's Public House is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.(or 12:00 if busy). Their new menu boasts amazing and unique Pizzas, Famous Burgers, Salads, Soups, and delicious Barbeque. The drink menu is definitely a step up from normal bar drinks. They serve Dirty Martinis (my happiness), Mojitos, Margaritas, and specialty cocktails - like their popular "Game Changer"- along with a wide assortment of beers and soft drinks.

I asked Gregg what dreams he had for the new location and this is what he said - "We've gotten to know our customers, their kids, their grandkids, their dogs, their birthdays...that level of connections is why we do what we do. This is going to sound extremely corny, but both Ramona and I really feel good if we help make people happy. I believe something good always comes out of something bad. If we run the business the way we know we should, that joy is the final product." That says it all.
