My quest to find the perfect dirty martini takes me to Deb's Place at 5310 South 56th in Lincoln, NE.
After buying the previous martini bar that was at this location, Deb, and her husband Tom Erickson, took on the task of updating the place into a very cozy and quaint place that invites a diverse clientele from the young to the more seasoned. You may come into the bar as strangers but will always meet and make new friends. Their goal is to be the neighborhood "Cheers". They might not know "everyone's name" but they certainly will the next time.
The staff is friendly, fun, and strive to provide excellent service. Deb says that if you arrive in a bad mood they will "do their best to change it." Her experience in the bar business goes back over 35 years and buying this bar in April of 2023 fulfills a lifelong dream.
They have a very extensive bar menu with all types of drinks including beer, cocktails, Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, and over 30 varieties of whiskeys and great tasting Scotches. They are known for their special recipes for Long Island Ice Tea and Margaritas. Don't drink alcohol? They can make amazing Mocktails which are "off the charts" according to patrons.
Now let's talk dirty martini - truly one of the best I have had.
Their secret is the olive juice that they order specifically for their martinis and they hand stuff the blue cheese olives daily. The glasses are chilled and they give the shaker a workout so the ice chips float nicely on the top of the drink making it really cold and extremely tasteful. Dirty martini not your thing? Their menu includes all different varieties of martinis so you will definitely find one that suits your taste.
A very warm and inviting beer garden is available outside. They do not serve food as a general rule, but on Friday nights they treat everyone to sandwiches or pizza from local area vendors starting at 5:30 pm until the last morsel is gone. Deb's Place is open from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am 7 days a week.
A Jimmy Buffet celebration is slated for Saturday August 24th from open to close.(Jimmy Buffet attire is strongly suggested) and their first annual golf tournament is Saturday, October 12th. Please sign up at the bar when you visit.
So come to Deb's Place, the cozy little bar on the corner "where friends meet friends".
So fun reading these!
